Reflection, Day Three

After only a couple days walking around the Crescent City, the glimpses I have into the workings of the city, and the lives of the people in it, I feel that I have some small understanding of what the city is at its core. I have never been partial to urban areas, but New Orleans, especially the French Quarter, is unlike any that I have experienced before. Vibrant, connected and diverse are words that the city brings to mind. It is an interesting blend of the past and the present. In light of the challenges that this area has faced in the past and the difficulties it is likely to encounter in the future, I can now empathize with the people that so desperately want to hold on to the unique and beautiful place that is New Orleans.
