Day9

Today while doing our work in the swamp we came across a giant Thistle. The Thistle stood around 5 feet. Much larger then our thistle in California.

Day 9

After a day of rain the swamps were full of water. Roughly 1-2 feet of standing water.  Alex in the picture below is taking off his shoe as it was full of water from stepping in the wrong place.

Day 8

Last night after the plantation. We went to rock and bowl. This bowling alley has a full dance floor and a nice sized bowling alley. It felt like an old fashion hoedown.

Paul Sanchez at Chikie Wah Wah

The group had a wonderful time this evening enjoying the music of Paul Sanchez. I was thrilled to find out what a kind person he was and how much he cared about the community. It felt great to support a fantastic musician and caring member of the New Orleans community and culture.

Day 8

Yesterday we went to Woodlands plantation. At the plantation we had a crayfish boil. The food was amazing. After dinner we went on a tour of the property grounds. We saw all the old structures that were used on the property when it was in operation. Great dinner.

A wet day in Delacroix

It was great to see the Delacroix plot today. Though it was quite inundated with water, this site had many more native plants and showed evidence of less disturbance than the Woodlands Conservancy Trail and Park site.
